27th April – ‘Imagining Our Futures’ – Central School of Speech and Drama, London

GI LogoI feel that being able to imagine a positive and productive future for yourself is a really key part of living a happy life, and so I am delighted to be speaking at this event next weekend.

‘Imagining Our Futures’ brings together trans professionals from a range of backgrounds to talk about their careers, what inspires them, and how being trans may have had an effect on things for them.

The event is organised by Gendered Intelligence, and will give young trans people an opportunity to hear from older trans people and ask questions – whether it’s about the career path itself or information on being trans or transitioning in a particular field.

The venue is fully accessible. Travel bursaries will be available, for up to £7 per person, with a receipt. Light refreshments will be provided.

For more information, go to Imagining Our Futures.

This is Not My Story @ Hall for Cornwall

“People tell me we live in a pretty equal world,
but man… this is a little boy
who everyone thinks is a girl, and
by high school his whole world is broken…”

‘This is Not My Story’ filmed at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro, February 2013, as part of a Telltales event.

Telltales: The Parabola Project III: Horizons - get the book while stocks last

27th November – Falmouth – Parabola Project Launch

The Launch Event for the third and final Parabola Project, that explosion of literature and design, is tomorrow night at The Rum Bar in Falmouth.

Unfortunately I can’t be there myself this time, as I’m stuck at the wrong end of the country, but you’ll find my poems lurking somewhere under the fantastic cover of this new issue, which is entitled ‘Horizons’.

It looks like there’s going to be some great writing in this edition. I’m massively excited to be being published in the same book as one of my favourite poets, the awesome Luke Wright, and then there’s Jake O’Leary, who’s been kind enough to offer me cups of tea and inspiration when he’s found me sitting in his kitchen, and many other great writers of poetry and prose as well as the enigmatic illustrations, photography, and design.

You can pick up a copy for just £5, and if you live in Cornwall, here’s a list of stockists, or leave a comment / contact me if you’d like to order a copy sent to your home.

The Launch night features performance from: Mac Dunlop, Rebecca Hall, Adrian Rodda, Sylvie Vacher, Fi Read, Suzie Cunliffe, Heather Hosking, Aaron Kent, Lauren Sheerman, Alan Robinson and Jo Thomas.

27th November –  The Rum Bar, Falmouth – 7pm – Free Entry

There will be live music, illustration, and of course, poetry, from the likes of Mr Gee – poet for the BBC’s award winning Russell Brand Show, Catherine Brogan –  the 2011 BBC Edinburgh Fringe Poetry Slam champion,  and Dan Simpson, Toby De Angeli, Gary from Leeds, Marta Owczrek, Anya Pearson, Will Coldwell, and me.
